BARREL-AGED DRY RED WINE
Recommended: Decant 1-2 hours prior to drinking.
Similar in style to Cabernet of the Loire Valley, tart red fruit flavors and peppery aromas combine in this classic medium-bodied dry red wine. This Chinon-style Cabernet Franc was primarily grown at Villari Vineyards on the Outer Coastal Plain of New Jersey with some Maryland-grown Cabernet Franc and Merlot blended in. Aged 10 months in barrel. The fruit flavors are dominated by sour cherry, raspberry compote, and bell pepper. Subtle notes of crushed wet gravel, red chili pepper, and dried oregano make this wine an excellent pairing with dishes flavored with dried herbs. The wine has medium body, moderately high acidity, and moderately low tannin. This lighter style Cab Franc is a perfect summer-sipper red wine and should age gracefully for at least a decade.
