Amie’s wine journey began in Tuscany, Italy, at the age of 20. Though this region is mostly known for red wines, when she visited a small winery in Chianti she discovered a dry rose made from Sangiovese. It became one of her first wine loves. Nearly 20 years later, she wanted to create a wine that was reminiscent of that time in her life. This wine combines her love of Sangiovese Rose, but with a little sparkling twist as it’s also made in a style we have become known for, petillant natural. We left the juice on the skins for 24 hours to extract just the right amount of color, aromatics, and tannin. The resulting wine shows fresh strawberries, juicy watermelon, and a whisper of wild roses, reminiscent of a summer garden in full bloom. We pumped barrel-aged Wildflower honey wine into a freshly emptied cider barrel in the back of Lyndon's truck. We were on a learning trip up north and took the opportunity to visit Enlightenment and take their mead on a road trip down south. We married it with some cider aged in freshly emptied muscadine wine barrels, for that kiss of the south. We blended them together and let them get to know each other. When they were ready they asked for a bit of fresh life, so we bottled conditioned with a touch of fresh muscadine and raspberry juice.
