This is version 2 of our 2020 Chardonnay. Over the many years of making chardonnay, we have found that this variety needs a little "assistance" to get the finish to perfection. Added in small quantities which are impossible to distinguish in the wines have been chardonel, aromella, traminette, vignoles and colombard. Our currently bottled Chardonnay 2020, bottled June of 2021, has just a touch of traminette and a little more of a touch of vignoles. But wow, what they do behind the scenes....delish!
Long finish, lots of classic chardonnay fruit, an extremely small hint of oak due to barrel fermentation and the smoothness that results in barrel fermentation and leaving the wine on their lees (spent yeast cells) is just a magical way to make chardonnay.
And if anyone knows Jim, he loves chardonnay. Hint.
