This elegant wine reminds us of the treasured aged Moelleux cuvées of the Loire when special vintages allow for a uniquely intense expression of varietal character. Our second harvest designation indicates extra ripening which ensures a richly textured wine with just a kiss of sweetness. We suggest that this Gewürztraminer marries well with a wide range of dishes served at the beginning, middle, or end of a meal (and especially at all outdoor soirées!)
This special two-pack, normally $90, is on sale for $60, including free shipping.
“A heady and powerful wine, the 2012 Gewürztraminer Block 97 Second Harvest boasts a nose of goji berry, raw clover honey, and ginger. While lower in acidity than the other whites, that is true to the nature of the vintage. Rich, but not weighty, the generous flesh continues into the finish as the acidity builds. Though possessing 30 grams per liter of residual sugar, the wine ultimately presents as dry.” 2012 Review, 91 Points, Kelli White, Vinous
Grüner Veltliner and Chardonnay co-fermented on the skins. The herbal essence of Grüner Veltliner, with a touch of added richness from Chardonnay, gives this delightful wine a hint of golden apple mixed with white peach. The bright core of this wine combines hints of honeycomb with a crisp, mineral finish. Spontaneously fermented, unfined, and unfiltered, with minimal S02 only at bottling.
Our popular 100% Skin Fermented Riesling "Pet Nat" is wild and intensely aromatic. This vintage reveals notes of pear, apricot, honey, apple, and wildflowers and has a wonderfully strong effervescence coupled with delightful sophistication. Wild yeast fermented; unfined and unfiltered; not disgorged and zero SO2. Like all Les Bloomers’ Pet Nats, these wines should be served very cold!
Golden and a little hazy, this wine comes from our “secret garden.” Auten Vineyard is on the west side of Cayuga Lake, a gently sloping site with naturally high lime soil. Since 2008 we have bottled single vineyard Rieslings, often differentiating clonal type. With age, compared to our other Rieslings, Clone 10 from this vineyard has taken on a more traditional Germanic sensibility and structure – think a wilder and more bohemian Joh. Jos. Prüm – “By turns intriguing and confounding, this Riesling definitely has personality.” – Jason Wilson, Vinous.
Spontaneously fermented, unfined and unfiltered, with minimal S02 only at bottling.
In 2013, Bloomer Creek purchased a vineyard, abandoned for over 30 years, on the East side of Seneca Lake. The high rocky hillside was planted to eight acres of vines; Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Vinified from extended skin-contact and spontaneously fermented in stainless steel, this 2017 Riesling Reserve is a compelling interplay between mineral power and sumptuous fruit. Unfined and unfiltered, with minimal S02 only at bottling. Barrow in Old Norse means “high rocky hill and burial mound.”
“Hazy light yellow in color. Lovely tangerine and melon aromas, along with white pepper and spring herbs. Wonderfully bright and juicy on the palate of Meyer lemon, ripe melon and grapefruit pith. An intriguing, attractive note of leather lingers on the incredibly long, earthy finish. Complex, and boldly pushes the limits of what Riesling can be.” Jason Wilson, Vinous
Concentrated stone fruit, followed by herbs and spice. Apple, pear and white pepper form the integrated core of this crisp and classically styled Grüner Veltliner. A decidedly versatile white wine, whether at table with a wide range of foods or as an aperitif. Wild ambient yeast fermentation; no fining or filtering and limited S02 only at bottling. Only 50 cases made.
Time has only done wonders for our 2013 Block 97 Chardonnay where aromas, flavors, and textures have evolved into an expression reminiscent of great white Burgundy. Layered with notes of apple, lemon confit, white flowers, seashell, spice, and grilled hazelnuts all captured with vivid energy, density, and power. We are making this library wine available as a celebration for a new season of hope. Only 25 cases available.
Bloomer Creek's library release of 2016 Cabernet Franc, borne of an exceptionally dry growing season, reveals seductive notes of cool, dark fruit – blackcurrant and raspberry – with inflections of black tea and pencil shavings. The wine is taught and juicy, ending with an unexpected tannic snap. Spontaneously fermented, unfined, and unfiltered, with minimal S02 only at bottling.
