Dark Starr is the first metheglin we've made with Star Anise, fermented in wildflower honey. Light and refreshing! Tantalizing licorice aromas give way to a light, dry, refreshing mead.
This mead was awarded the Gold medal at the Orpheus Cup Mead Competition.
The label art is by Sarah Fletcher, and.. we even have a limited number of bottles signed by the artist!
The inspiration behind the mead itself was sheer appreciation... because as mead mentors, Ben and Becky Starr of Starrlight Meadery in Pittsboro, NC are unsurpassed. So when Ben's birthday landed on a new (i.e., Dark) moon, we ran with it.
