Dark Starr is the first metheglin we've made with Star Anise, fermented in wildflower honey. Light and refreshing! Tantalizing licorice aromas give way to a light, dry, refreshing mead. This mead was awarded the Gold medal at the Orpheus Cup Mead Competition. The label art is by Sarah Fletcher, and.. we even have a limited number of bottles signed by the artist! The inspiration behind the mead itself was sheer appreciation... because as mead mentors, Ben and Becky Starr of Starrlight Meadery in Pittsboro, NC are unsurpassed. This delightfully rich and complex mead took a 2nd place ribbon in the Dry Traditionals category at the 2022 Valkyries Horn Mead Competition. Yes, we did! This mead is Wild Maine Blueberries... in Blueberry Blossom Honey. B-squared, if you will. Sometimes, we just like to take things to extremes. 14% ABV, Dry and still, this bottle strength blueberry mead is pretty full of itself. Fruity with a touch of tannin from the blueberries. This one is blue all the way through.

This semi-sweet mead is made of Lingonberries in NE Wildflower Honey. Lingonberries are more or less famous for being from Scandinavia, which gets them associated with IKEA. They do grow in the US, but nevertheless the association is a strong one.
