Mountain Brook Vineyards 2019 Merlot was hand harvested in the Tryon Foothills on a limited acreage and producing only 56 cases.
This wine opens with an elegant Bordeaux bouquet of bright red plum, red cherries, bramble, cigar box and dark chocolate. The pronounced aromatics translate to the palate with intense red cherry, subtle touch of black pepper.
This wine stayed coopered in a blend of New and Used French Oak, as well, new American oak coopered with North Carolina White Oak specially for Mountain Brook Vineyards.
The fine dusty tannins profile followed by leathery supple tannins and ample acidity. The earthiness and yet freshness of red fruit gives this wine an excellent and elegant medium body followed by a long-pronounced finish that lingers in the palate. The perfect balance of acidity, tannins and bright fruit makes this wine ready to drink now or to hold for another 3 - 5 years.
