In 2013, Bloomer Creek purchased a vineyard, abandoned for over 30 years, on the East side of Seneca Lake. The high rocky hillside was planted to eight acres of vines; Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Vinified from extended skin-contact and spontaneously fermented in stainless steel, this 2017 Riesling Reserve is a compelling interplay between mineral power and sumptuous fruit. Unfined and unfiltered, with minimal S02 only at bottling. Barrow in Old Norse means “high rocky hill and burial mound.” “Hazy light yellow in color. Lovely tangerine and melon aromas, along with white pepper and spring herbs. Wonderfully bright and juicy on the palate of Meyer lemon, ripe melon and grapefruit pith.
