Current notes: It's hard not to feel nostalgic about this wine. I got to work with Harrison Hollow vineyard only twice before the owners retired and sold their land. The vineyard was over two decades old, and the care and knowledge Lois and Tony Sterling applied to their land was incredible. The 2018 Rivals bottling has always been oxidative, with saline and mineral notes. That's still the case, but the cream, spice, and warm woodsy notes are now much more prominent and they act as base notes for the more ethereal citrus flavors.
From release: 100% LaCrosse from Harrison Hollow Vineyard in Viroqua. Barrel fermented and aged on lees for 18 months. 30 parts sulfur added at bottling.
Bright and minerally with notes of lemon zest, wild herbs and almond.
