Viognier has found a home in Virginia. Known for big floral and tropical aromas this bold white can stand up to foods that may whites cannot. Roasted chicken, chicken curry and shellfish pair beautifully with this wine along with baked brie, gruyere and green olives.
A pale straw wine, the Viognier takes on a bit of intensity from 8 months in new and neutral French oak barrels. With a lovely mouth-filling viscosity, this Viognier shows off attractive aromas of tangerine, saffron and toast along with hints of jasmine, rose and pencil shavings. On the palate the fruit shines through with flavors of mango, papaya and citrus integrate with the suggestion of melon and white pepper. The finish lingers with notes of grapefruit and lager.
