The Merlot is an intense, well-balanced wine will complement rotisserie chicken, roasted root vegetables, lightly seasoned red meat and flavorful cheeses such as Asiago and Gouda. The Merlot is ready to drink now but will continue to develop elegantly for another two years.

Viognier has found a home in Virginia. Known for big floral and tropical aromas this bold white can stand up to foods that may whites cannot. Roasted chicken, chicken curry and shellfish pair beautifully with this wine along with baked brie, gruyere and green olives. A pale straw wine, the Viognier takes on a bit of intensity from 8 months in new and neutral French oak barrels. With a lovely mouth-filling viscosity, this Viognier shows off attractive aromas of tangerine, saffron and toast along with hints of jasmine, rose and pencil shavings. On the palate the fruit shines through with flavors of mango, papaya and citrus integrate with the suggestion of melon and white pepper. The finish lingers with notes of grapefruit and lager.

Estate grown at 868 Estate Vineyards this bright white is refreshing while bringing surprising complexity to the mix. Serve the Altezza with roasted or grilled vegetables along with Gruyère or Brie. The Altezza White has a bright, clear medium gold color. On the nose, citrus and toasty oak notes dominate with floral elements of body powder and perfume. On the palate a refreshing acidity blends with grapefruit and vanilla characters. Clear on the finish, the Altezza White lingers with the suggestion of citrus and spice.

The Altezza is complex with fragrances cherry and mixed berry jam along with hints cinnamon, anise and cedar. On the weighty palate, the wine shows elements of cherry and cracked pepper along with notes of smoke and dark chocolate. The 2020 Vidal Blanc Passito is the follow up to the 2020 Virginia Governor’s Cup winning 2017 Passito. The wine is made by the appassimento process where grapes are partially dried on straw mats or pallets in airy rooms or barns in order to concentrate the grapes' flavors and sweetness prior to vinification. A dessert onto itself, pair this late dessert wine with Crème Brule, nutty cheeses such as Comté and Muenster and assorted dried fruits. Serve chilled. Tasting Notes The Passito displays a beautiful deep gold color and a glass-coating viscosity. The aromas are concentrated with elements of honey and golden raisin with notes of boxwood and butter scotch. The wine is dense on the palate with flavors of raisin and fig along with notes of marmalade, lemon and black pepper. The wine lingers on the finish without being cloying with characters of baking spice, apricot, and green tea. As with quality dessert wines, this Vidal Blanc has a balance of sweetness and natural acidity
