The low yield in 2018 allowed 868 Estate to use the highest quality of barrels for this wine. The 2018 Chardonnay continues to be produced in the Chablis style and allowing the retention of its crisp acidity while maintaining sufficient body and structure to match with a range of different foods. Pair this wine seafood including oysters and other raw shellfish and sauteed shrimp but also with chicken piccata and vegetable risotto. The 2018 is a wine to enjoy now but will continue to impress throughout the year.
This medium gold-colored Chardonnay is an easy drinking crowd pleaser. The aroma is intense with the strong suggestion of honey and apples complimented by notes of toasted almond, hazelnut and pear. The palate features unexpected body and mouth weight with elements of apple, citrus and minerality highlighted by hints of baked apple and acacia. The wine finishes with refreshing elements of saffron and grapefruit.
