THE PRODUCTION:
The grapes come from our 35
year old vines on our home ranch. This ranch is on Terminous Island, one of the many islands located in the California Delta. As the name means “the end” it is in fact the last island on the
western edge of the Lodi Appellation. Our prized zinfandel grapes thrive on this island because of the rich “peat” soil, warm summer days and cool evenings where the breezes sweep through off the Delta waterways originating from the majestic
San Francisco Bay.
2013 OLD VINE ZINFANDEL:
When it comes to Zinfandel this wine has the classic spice that so many producers
strive for. Black cherries, boysenberries and other wild berries make up a small part
of the aroma which streams from the glass. It has an elegance and delicateness which
is in contrast to many “over the top” (very thick and pruny) Zinfandels these days. Just the right amount of oak balances these fruit aromas making the first impression extremely desirable. The flavor and palate does not disappoint. It is rich and easy drinking. There is an abundance of the fruits as described above along with a balanced acidity that carries its lushness through to an extremely balanced finish.
We are a 7th Generation Winemaking Family located in the Lodi AVA. All wines are Estate Grown. We grow 600 acres of a variety of wine grapes to include Verdelho, Petite Sirah, Muscato, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Old Vine Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and red and white blends.
