OR - Elkton
Beginning with our first vintage in Oregon 2002, we have sourced riesling from the Bradley Vineyard planted by John and Bonnie Bradley in 1983. Elkton on the main stem Umpqua River has a very cool, coastal climate, ideal for this variety, first planted in Elkton way back in 1972. This is our second attempt at a sparkling version of the noble riesling grape. Our 2018 was so good and well received that this project will continue. Petillant Naturel, as the name implies, is just that, wine bottled before fermentation is complete, finishing in the bottle to create the bubbles, nothing added, nothing taken away. The wine is a lovely pale yellow color and the bubbles are tiny and persistent. The aromas arising show crisp tart green apple, quince, a jasmine floral quality with some bosc pear notes. In the mouth the flavors explode into full summer fun with cascading flavors of the crisp tart apple, melon and nectarine with a lingering saline quality that adds to the intrigue. This wine is made for casual enjoyment, at the beach, on the deck, starting a meal, or just kicking back and enjoying with friends anytime. As you empty the bottle, you will find the sediment at the bottom and the last glass or two will be cloudy. Not to worry, it’s natural and good for you.
