Our first library wine. This 2010 Meritage is a two time gold medal winner at the Virginia Governors Cup (2013,2014). An intense nose of dark fruit, black pepper, and vanilla with velvety tannins.
The grapes were de-stemmed, gently crushed, pumped to stainless steel tanks, and cold soaked for 2 days. After the yeasts started the fermentation, the pump overs took place daily, and when it was beneficial the process of ‘delestage’ was applied. After 3 weeks of maceration, the wine was pressed off to barrels and allowed to naturally go through malolactic fermentation. A selection of new and seasoned French oak from the forests of Allier and Troncais was chosen for maturing the wine. During the 18 month oak maturation period the wine was racked 4 times. As a Bordeaux style wine, the ?nal blend was carefully selected from the best barrels for each varietal.
