The 2017 Meritage is produced from 100% estate grown fruit. With extended barrel age in elegant French oak barrels, this Meritage has the appearance of an aged Bordeaux. The impact of the longer time in barrel on flavors and aromas is significant. This fruit forward wine will pair with charcuterie, lamb, roasted pork and game meat. Excellent now, the Meritage will continue to develop into 2021.
Tasting Notes
The Meritage displays a medium garnet color. The aromas are complex with carmel and cola notes blending with dark fruit including blackberry, blueberry and plum. The palate displays more red fruit elements with red currant and raspberry along with hints of baking spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. With refined tannins, the finish is spicy with black pepper, saffron and notes of leather.
