The use of new American oak in this barrel program creates the mood of mocha with plums, Marionberry and fig, backed by hints of beef jerky. Frontal tannins open up the palate, which is redolent with blackberry, black currant and blueberry skins. Barrel spice of cocoa powder and black pepper makes for a pleasing finish as the tannins are beveled.
