Sangineto is an archaic name for Sangiovese; inasmuch as this wine could be a varietal Sangiovese most years ( i.e. greater than 75%), the moniker is appropriate. We have evolved a blend formula of using 10 % Merlot plus 10% Montepulciano to give added body and deeper color, similar to what is done in many so-called Super-Tuscan style wines. Sangineto will not bowl you over, yet you will be impressed by its restrained elegance, reminding one of the Chiantis from the Rufina area.
