Wisteria Farm & Vineyard is proud to introduce its newest creation, the Woodland Series, a collection of wine infused with a variety of aromatic woods – a delectable and decidedly different foray into infused red wine.
As a fairly new winemaker, Steve Wallace looks for new and different ways to work with wine. The Woodland Series did just that. He is definitely on to something. Another was last year’s Brimstone, a mixture of Petit Verdot and habanero mead that quickly amassed a fan club.
The Woodland Series came about as Steve built the ash bar for their new tasting room, which opened in February of 2024. While working with the wood, he smelled rich aromas of vanilla and caramel that brought him back to his tour of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
Expanding on the concept, he chose apple, cherry and hickory woods to accompany the ash. Steve aged a small batch of each wood with Wisteria’s 2023 Chambourcin for this limited run.
