This lovely garnet pour leads to raspberry and cherry aromas with a dusting of brown spices. The palate offers up red-fleshed fruits, berries, and tart cherries with a sprinkling of cinnamon and allspice. The finish is fine and easy.
This inviting carmine red wine produces a bouquet of bright cherries, plums, and cassis with a sprinkling of cocoa powder. The smooth palate includes bing cherries, pomegranate, cassis, and new leather before a smooth, red fruit finish.
What we love about this wine, beyond its beauty, is its matchlessness. No other wine from the Santa Cruz Mountains represents this part of our appellation. The final blend (82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11 % Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec) combines the historical grapes of Bordeaux sourced from impeccable local vineyard sites, either farmed or supervised by our Mount Eden team. This wine has intense black cherry, red currant, and indescribable “walk in our forest” aromas. Youthful on the palate with abundant tannins, the flavors of deep currant, blueberry, and earth are penetrating. Expect a beautiful evolution over the next two decades.
Our new vintage flagship wine is a must try. It is full-bodied with earthy notes of smoke, tobacco, deep current and black cherry. This wine is well-rounded with medium tannins, rich fruit and finishes with smooth oak that lingers on the palate.
Dark deep purple with black cherry color tones. This young wine impresses with its great depth of black cherry, dried currant and sweet oak theme in the nose...dusty mineralality adds complexity; dark chocolate powder and vanilla ice cream. Wow factor for sure! Fresh texture with bright berry flavors and low tannins create a lithe mouthfeel. Cranberry and bark are featured in the flavors of this youthful Cabernet. No long cellaring is called for with this “modern version” of California Cabernet. This 2018 never stops reminding the taster of its Santa Cruz Mountain roots. Ready to enjoy now with casual backyard foods and high flavor accompaniments.
With 15 years in the bottle; this Cabernet is “in the zone” of fully mature Kathryn Kennedy Cabs. It comes from a long cool summer and therefore has an elegant, refined and sophisticated Bordeaux character. This is not a Napa Cab style!
Aromas of pickled plum, leather, blackberry pie, and dill with a satiny, crisp, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a peppery, interesting, medium-length chocolate chiffon cake, herbed olives, and licorice finish with moderate oak flavor. A fruity and buoyant Cabernet Sauvignon with juicy purple fruit balanced by tingling spice.
This vineyard just looks like it has to make wine of character, and it does. Year after year there is an incredible depth of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit, especially on the aroma. Usually hearty Cabs like this don't show much fruit.
Extracted and concentrated, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a wonderful example of what an old vine vineyard grown in a cool climate can produce. Most Cabernet producers blend with other varieties to help round out the hardness inherent in Cab grapes. This wine is 100% Cab with no blending, showing its true unbridled character.
