releasing our “2020 Resilience Rose” made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from our Meridian Estate Vineyards in Silverton, Oregon. This dry rose has some bright fruit of fresh watermelon, juicy strawberry, and tart raspberry. Light in color, the body is rich and smooth. Great to pair with both light bodied foods such as a summer salad or creamy cheese board but can stand up to robust barbeque and hearty meats as well.
2020 was a difficult year for our region. The tasting room was closed for just over 6 months of the year due to Covid-19 restrictions. In October, our region suffered from historic forest fires that blanketed our vineyards in thick smoke for many days, while our production and tasting room was in a Level 2 evacuation zone. Harvest was further complicated by the smoke and maintaining safe air quality for our vineyard crew. Cap off the season with a major ice storm in early 2021 which caused the tasting room and production facility to lose power for 12 days.
Through it all, our winemaker/owner Chris Decklemann was able to produce a Rose that reflects the vintage and all we went through. Resilience Rose is made to commemorate the year and recognize the efforts of our entire community to get through this with a reason to celebrate. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to first responders in our medical industry who dealt with the Covid pandemic first hand, as well as our local firefighters who tirelessly worked to protect so many lives combating the surrounding fires.
