The two bottlings from our sold-out 2016 vintage earned Silver and Double Gold from the 2018 and 2020 Seattle Wine Awards. This vintage will certainly carry the torch for this Malbec series. Block 9 of Sagemore's Gamache vineyard. Planted in 2003, enjoys a south-east exposure on a bench overlooking the Columbia Valley. This exposure warms the vines in the morning while tempering the afternoon heat. Lightly oaked, structured with acidity and minerality from this site's Caliche subsoils, this has enough tannin for a classic red meat wine, but has ample fruity flavor to make it a delicious drinking wine. Pair with a grass-fed strip or a rack of St Louis ribs, or any good steak.
Notes
Newly released, our 2018 Malbec has hints of rustic lavender underlying concentrated stone fruit with fine minerality, silky tannins and a juicy acid finish. Aged 27 months in 75% neutral barrels. Gamache Vineyard, 46 cases produced.
