About Honu (Inspired by the island of Kaua’i)
......................................................................................
No need to take the 12-hour hike to Kalalau Beach along the slender Na Pali Coast where the Hawaiian sea turtles bask. Just open a bottle of Honu to taste the energy of this garden island.
Tasting notes
......................................................................................
Color: Dark ruby red with a core of black fruits
Aroma: Ripe black currant, roasting flavors, hints of vanilla, dried herbs and fruits,
nuances of bitter chocolate
Palate: Well balanced ripe tannins, full-bodied, spicy notes, long and complex finish.
About the vineyard
......................................................................................
The south facing vineyard with its deep-rooted 23 year-old vines provides perfect conditions to produce wines rich in extract. The whole body of the soil is interspersed with fine marine limestone and loamy slate.
About the vintage
......................................................................................
The 2016 vintage saw ugly weather but lovely wines. Uncommonly well-concentrated and nicely focused examples, whose extract and abundant tannins compare with the very best of Austrian red wine vintages.
