Sauvignon Blanc is the newest varietal we have planted at Slater Run Vineyards. In 2016, we planted half an acre in the Silo Vineyard to see how this varietal would work on our site. We produced our first vintage in 2020 and have been extremely pleased with its performance in the vineyard and the cellar. A light to medium-bodied estate white wine is made in stainless steel tanks from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in the farm's "Silo" vineyard. The 2023 vintage shows notes of white flowers, grapefruit, lime oil, and flint.

Delicious light and dry summer white wine that is 54% Chardonnay, 16% Viognier, 15% Grüner Veltliner, and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. The label features a painting by local Upperville artist Holly Ward Bimba of a fanciful bird nest with three birds eating grapes, inspired by a time owner Kiernan Slater Patusky found a bird nest with grapes in it behind the protective vineyard bird netting, showing the audacity of the birds. As a result of this experience and a recognition that the farm is our "nest," the bird feather became the Slater Run logo.

This is our second time working with Petit Manseng, a white grape grown primarily in Southwest France. Although we do not grow it here at Slater Run Vineyards, it is showing great promise in Virginia vineyards for its ability to achieve considerable ripeness while retaining great acidity. The oak age rounds out the acidity, while blending the two varieties creates a full-bodied white wine with complex, exotic aromatics and rich texture.
