TASTING NOTES
Alchemy at its finest. Blending a newly bred cold hardy varietal with a beloved, noble vitis vinifera varietal, to multiply the aromas, flavors & quality of the composition. Petite Pearl & Petit Verdot matured in two neutral French oak barrels for 9 months, before a lengthy bottle aging. Both smaller, petite grapes lend to the wine a medium-heavy body with deep flavors of dark fruit, blackberry, blueberry and currant, finishing with a velvety texture of mocha & vanilla with a hint of earthiness and spice.
WINEGROWING
Grown with a focus on sustainability. These grapes are farmed on nutrient rich soils, made up of a decomposed ancient sea bed. A properly managed, umbrella like canopy allows for just the right air flow and dappled sunlight onto the clusters to achieve maximum quality. The higher water holding capacity of these soils allow for fewer water applications throughout the season, and lends to the uniqueness of the wine.
WINEMAKING
100% destemmed for open top fermentation. Petit Verdot was left on the skins for an 30 day extended maceration. Petite Pearl was fermented with the use of pumpovers Malolactic fermentation and aging were conducted in 2014 & 2015 French oak barrels. Unfiltered.
