Planted on picturesque south-facing slopes of clay and loam, the Deerheart Vineyard lies just five miles from the Pacific Ocean and is bordered by the La Honda Open Space Preserve. With a compelling mix of Dijon and Swiss clones, most the vines are planted at a dense 4-foot spacing to promote lower yields. The coldest blocks are trellised just 18” off the ground to capture the heat of the earth on this cool coastal site at the frontier-edge of the AVA. Crunchy aromas of morello cherry, plum and mulberry intermixed with toasted brioche, slate and earth. Intensely pure raspberry and plum notes on the palate with whole cluster bringing lavender aromas, savory notes, deep structure and a velvety texture to the party, all framed by the vibrant acidity that is hallmark for the site.
