The 2020 vintage was an unusual growing year because of a late May frost and our crop was reduced by 80%. Our vineyard block that survived the event the best was our Mountain block because of its higher elevation. Therefore the 2020 Petit Verdot is composed 100% from this block. We picked the grapes on September 21, 2020 at 21 brix. After a night in the cooler the grapes were sorted (bunches and berries), processed, bleed at 20% to increase the concentration, and then directly fermented. The alcoholic fermentation lasted ten days. The maceration was short in order to only extract the softer tannins. The aging took place in French oak barrels for 17 months (40% new French Oak). Today the wine is bright and balanced showing tobacco flavors and natural blue fruit aromas.
