The word “Candives” is a synonym for the name of the grape “Syrah,” historically only used in a tiny section of the Northern Rhone Valley in France. We decided to adopt it for this, the first PWV Reserve wine we ever released. Of our two Reserve Syrah wines, this one is the most forward and lush…just begging to be consumed immediately (although it will certainly improve with some more age). 91 Points, The Wine Enthusiast (Upcoming “Best of the Year” issue) 94 Points “As fine as the other 2018's are, this is so dark, dense, and dramatic that the special name is certainly merited. Loaded with ripe black fruit, it also has layers of spice, hints of clove and violets, light leather, toast, and pepper that evolve in the glass.
