Red Blend
WA - Rattlesnake Hills
Sangiovese and Italy, Zinfandel and Croatia, Temprañillo and Spain, Lemberger and Germany all sound American to me; we are The Melting Pot after all. These were all planted for the synergy that comes from diversity.
The desire to create wine for a healthy diet. Wines that work with dishes from Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Spain, Mexico. Dishes that involve tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, rice, pasta, bread, greens with garlic and olive oil. Baba ghanoush, guacamole, chimichurri, salsa, sofrito are in Rojo's vocabulary.
Grapes were hand selected from vines that haven't been sprayed for years, or in Lemberger’s case, never sprayed with a pesticide. Fermented with indigenous organisms and cultured yeast and malolactic bacteria in small, open fermenters, punched down by humans. Aged through two long cold winters and two hot summers in lovely older barrels. Plenty of laughter and love in the growing, elevating, and bottling.
Ingredients: 100% hand-picked sustainably grown organic grapes, oak chips, yeast, minimum effective so2 (potassium metabisulfite), malolactic culture
