Label History

The New Orleans streetcars have the distinction as one of the first passenger railroads in the United States and one of the oldest continuously operating street railways in the entire world. Their history dates back to 1835, with the St. Charles Avenue line. Blooming along St. Charles is the "Katrina" rose, once called the "Peggy Martin" rose, which is a famously hardy thornless climbing rose cultivar. The famous pink rose was the only flower to survive being submerged in 20 feet of saltwater for two weeks after Hurricane Katrina.
