Since first sourcing from Smith Ranch this vineyard has quickly become a staple here at Nottingham Cellars and for the first time in 2015 we had the opportunity to bottle a single varietal Petite Verdot from Smith as well. The rolling hills provide beautiful benches in the land with an array of different exposures to the sun as well as elevation and soil changes. An exquisite site that shows itself in the wine. An expressive wine from the first pour. Red and black fruit, dark chocolate and caramel aromatics are met by inviting green aromatics from the vines and notes of blueberry and boysenberry as the wine opens. Smooth and rich across the palate with soft flavors of red and black fruit and lush earthy tones carry themselves elegantly over the palate and are complimented by high tuned acidity and subtle rounded tannins leaving a long lingering finish you won’t want to end.
