2019 Calliope (the Muse of epic poetry) is a blend of 25% Grenache and 75% Mouvedre, aged 20 months in a one year old puncheon (large French oak barrel). The Calliope 2017 won best of category in the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition. Calliope is light-bodied and approachable. Garnet in color and spicy in taste, the combination of Grenache and Mouvedre is typical of French Cotes du Rhone wines and Bandol wines from the region of Provence as well as enjoying popularity in Spain where Grenache and Mouvedre (known as Garnacha and Monastrell in Spain) are popular Rioja favorites.
