The Virginia Dogwood became the Commonwealths official state flower in 1918 and official state tree in 1956, representing tradition, strength and beauty alongside renewal, family and growth. The First Lady of Virginia, Suzanne S. Youngkin, chose the dogwood for her First Lady seal as well as the label for the third edition of a project that supports multiple Virginia agriculture charitable organizations.
Cornus Virginicus, which is Latin for flowering tree of Virginia, celebrates Virginia flourishing agriculture and especially its farmers, growers, and winemakers. You are invited to toast the richness of the Commonwealth and celebrate the beauty of Virginia-grown food and wine.
