100% estate, single vineyard fruit. Winemaker is San Francisco Chronicle Winemaker of the Year Ehren Jordan. With only 8.7 acres of Pinot Noir planted, the vineyard is composed of silty clay loam over sandstone and fractured shale. The decision to use 50% whole clusters, almost by necessity in 2015, resulted in a Pinot that is both rich in fruit and also aromatically lifted, not to mention also quite a bit more expressive of this site and the Santa Cruz Mountains more broadly. Deep and plush, as the wines from this site can be, but not at all heavy, Mindego Ridge's 2015 Pinot Noir is a total knock out. The saline-infused finish offers a compelling counter to the intense, pliant fruit. The whole clusters are very nicely integrated, even at this early stage. Quite simply, the 2015 Pinot is fabulous.
