Michael has been making Syrah for years from different sites, but truly loves the Santa Cruz Mountains terroir for this Rhone varietal. The 2016 Martella Syrah is expressive of lean, crisp red fruit - freshly picked raspberries, olallieberries, and blackberries. This wine has bright acidity, finely integrated tannins and structure. It’s a Syrah that would pair with a meal, but isn’t so powerful and intense that it can’t be thoroughly enjoyed on its own. The fruit notes on this wine are sure to please in these upcoming warm months. As always, this is a wine that can be cellared or enjoyed upon release allowing it to open up in the glass. Either way it is sure to delight your senses and be enjoyed!
