Hailing from Maresh Vineyard in the Dundee Hills AVA, this is the oldest Riesling vineyard in Yamhill County—planted in 1970. Harvested in October, this wine is crafted in the off-dry German Kabinett style. This wine displays fresh minerality with vibrant citrus, honey and stone fruits, finishing with sweet stone and floral notes. 190 cases produced.
As always, this bottling is a vintage selection of our absolute favorite barrels. This year’s 2015 Mantis blend is 100% from our own Buttonfield Estate Vineyard! The two clones are 777 and Pommard, a perennial favorite clonal blend of Kelly’s.
The color is deep with violet and garnet tones, which translate as lavender pastilles and dried roses with rich black plum and wild strawberry notes in the nose and on the palate. The approach is smooth and layered with spice and bright acidity. The finish is rich with fine tannins that make the flavors linger. This wine is drinking beautifully now and will easily age for fifteen plus years. 150 cases produced.
Mad Violets 2017 McMinnville Chardonnay

The fruit is sourced from the Dupee Vineyard in the McMinnville AVA and consists of a three-clone blend; 95, 76 and 548. They are picked together and co-fermented. It is barrel fermented and then aged in 40% new French oak for fourteen months, which results in an elegant integration of oak and fruit.
The wine is the pale color of straw with chartreuse flecks dancing through it. The nose is beeswax, linalool, fresh pineapple and lemon zest. The pallet is rich with notes of toasted almond and vanilla bean, but bright with notes of citrus and fresh peach.
100% grown at our home, Buttonfield Estate and planted in 1989, these Pinot Gris vines are the “Old Clone Gris” selection that was planted on an east facing, 1.3-acre Stonyland outcropping. All the rock infuses the wine with bold minerality, aromatics of white peach, honeysuckle and subtle passion fruit. The approach is smooth and refreshing with ideal alcohol and long succulent finish.
This is a blend of five vineyards, all farmed by Stirling; 40% our own Buttonfield Estate Vineyard! The clonal mix of 777, Pommard and 115 plantings is crafted from four Willamette Valley AVA's: Trout Lily Ranch in the Chehalem Mountain AVA, Dupee Vineyard in the McMinnville AVA, Three Angels Vineyard in the Eola-Amity AVA and Terrarossa Vineyard in the Dundee Hills AVA.
The tapestry of attributes from these three clones and five sites has yielded a beautiful wine in a year of ideal growing conditions. The rich ruby color has undertones of indigo. The nose has ripe essence of black cherry, cedar and dried roses with deep notes of strawberries and raspberries, lavender and sandalwood. The approach is bright with balanced acidity and the lush tannins extend the silky finish. This wine has wonderful balance and expression of the vintage and will cellar well for years.
