The 2018 "ShelbyJ" (LBJ) is a whole-cluster, partial carbonic red Pinot Noir from Bracken Vineyard, a high-altitude baby vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA.
**The wine will be bottled 4/29/20**
This "future's" release is available now until April 29, to help with bottling costs.
After bottling, the futures price expires and the retail price of $28.00 will apply.
The origin story:
In 2018 I decided to purchase fruit (for the first time) for sparkling wine from a good friend, Shelby Perkins, who had just purchased a baby vineyard with her husband Peter Harter.
The fruit arrived in the same week that I realized I had a yield shortage in another vineyard I farm.
I realized if I wanted to have enough fruit for a barrel of red wine, I could take Shelby's fruit, which had ripened quickly, and use part of it for my red cuvee instead of just for the sparkling I was planning. The resulting wine has a nice zippiness and a lovely peppy body from the long evening light at the Bracken Vineyard.
