Insieme Wines 2021 was aged for 18 months in mostly neutral French Oak Barrels. This wine is unfined and unfiltered to preserve maximum phenolic composition. It is concentrated with a dark garnet color. The bouquet is highly perfumed. It opens with aromas of dark plum, dry oregano with hints of cherry.
The mouthfeel is dry, medium+ viscosity with tons of smooth soft tannins. The palate opens to plum compote, boysenberry and dry herbs. With a little time, it opens to layers of dark cherry, smoke, cedar with subtle hints of underlying tar and tobacco. Like many Montepulcianos it boasts a rich juicy mouthfeel with a great balance of fruit and herbs. Nice bright acidity adds to a clean palate cleansing finish, making this wine a great food pairing option. Think pizza, plum tomato sauce, but don’t forget savory brisket or pork shank balanced against the hints of tobacco and herbs. The use of mostly neutral French barrels adds a touch of oak structure but only enhances the savory notes of this wine while maintaining the fruit component completely intact. Winemaker Favorite for sure.
