This 2015 vintage of Whole Buncha Love® is a blend of 28% Zinfandel, 28% Carignan, 27% Charbono, 12% Petite Sirah, and 5% Grenache, the latter of which was carbonically fermented. All of the fruit was from Testa Vineyard in Capella Valley in Mendocino. The vines were planted by Maria Martinson's great-grandparents in 1912. Organically farmed by Martinson and her family, the fruit was so beautiful, that although winemaker Kathleen Inman planned to get just one ton of Zinfandel, she ended up with 5 1/2 tons of mixed "blacks." It was the winemaker equivalent of going to the grocery store hungry! Everything looked so good! Initially, she set about trying to make the perfect blend, but in the end, she thought, "What if I tried 100% of everything - all together?" She did, and the result was lovely, so she let it be! The grapes were fermented with just the natural yeast and malolactic bacteria and then aged in older barrels for 19 months.
