Our 2023 Excuse My Dust lightly oaked Chardonnay is elegant and restrained; comparable to a white burgundy as opposed to typical California chards which in our humble opinion are often over-oaked. This wine was aged for 10 months in new (33%) and neutral (67%) French oak - the first two months sur lie. This resulted in a wine with a creamy texture and just a subtle hint of oak; distinguishing it not only from the oaky-buttery chards many folks have grown tired of but also from Steel Reins - our other Santa Lucia Highlands chardonnay. Of our two chards, we feel Excuse My Dust is the most food-friendly.
We share profits from the sale of Excuse My Dust with the Emilio Velci Share Aloha Project - a SLO County-based organization that is focused on raising awareness of the fentanyl crisis.
