The Microburst is a port-style blend of Mourvedre and Zinfandel that is fortified with grape spirits.
This wine was made from grapes rescued from a devastating 2015 Microburst with 120 mph
winds and punishing rain that damaged about 2.6 acres, or 10% of our vineyard in about 25
minutes. Because of a heroic save by kind-hearted Colorado farmers that were visiting a
neighbor, both the grapes and the vines were saved and this unique wine was made possible.
Fruit-driven and complex, this estate Cabernet Sauvignon shows the lighter side of Cabernet. Classic notes of currents and oak spice on the nose compliment the plush palate with flavors of black cherries and toasted oak.
