Notes

The Grapes: Cinsaut, Grenache, Syrah & Mourvedre varieties. All grown in Dry Creek Valley small vineyards.

The Vineyards: Dry Creek Valley hillside and bench land. Cinsaut, Red Bench Vineyard is on the western bench of Dry Creek Valley, Here head pruned (not trellised) cinsaut vines grow in red, dusty clay non-irrigated (dry farmed) soil. Red Bench vineyard is a little over an acre of 64 year old cinsaut. These old dry vines yield a small amount of balanced, fruity grapes. Grenache, Rocky Terrace is high on the hilltop above the winery. The old Chris Conley Vineyard. To plant he carved steep rocky terraces out of the hillside. Location and thinning limited the fruit to only the best. Syrah & Mourvedre from Frick Estate Owl Hill Vineyard. This tiny vineyard’s ground is rock, gravel and clay from decomposed Dry Creek Conglomerate soil. Very low yield.

The Wine:
This most complex Lucia to date contains 4 grape varieties. It maintains the fruit and soft smooth characteristics that Lucia is known for. Delicious berry flavors and complex earth. Cinsaut 57%, Syrah 20%, Grenache 19%, Mourvedre 4%

LUCIA blend is named after my late very popular tasting room dog. She was a blend of Old English Sheepdog and Golden Retriever. A complex dog that was soft to pet.
