This beautifully balanced cool climate Zinfandel is dark, concentrated, and fruit forward with a medium body and the flavors of fresh blackberry and black cherry complemented by cigar, spice, and leather. The grapes were grown in Northern San Benito County on an alluvial plane of clay soils. The Muro Vineyards Zinfandel enjoys hot days but coastal influence at night. The 12-year-old Zinfandel vines produce relatively low yield allowing for balanced acidity and sugar levels. The fruit was hand picked late in October, aged in 33% new American oak barrels, and spent three years in the bottle. The 2015 Muro Vineyards Zinfandel is no fruit bomb Zinfandel, it has a strong bold finish that lasts and is more akin to a Zinfandel from Sonoma rather than Lodi or Paso Robles.
