The fruit was picked from one of our oldest blocks on the 28th of September. Fermentations occurred in two 1.5 ton lots over a period of 10-14 days. The wine was barrel aged for a period of 14 months in French Oak, 50% of it new. The vines of this block were 41 years in age for this vintage, being planted in the Bicentennial year of 1976. Smells like a fresh fruit bowl of ripe nectarines, tangerines, and grapes. Boatloads of fruit on the entry. Graham cracker crust filled with just a touch of butter, bing cherries, and a secret ingredient (no secrets, this is 100% 41 year old self-rooted, dry farmed Pommard – I meant the pie). A nice long finish lingers with plum fruit, tannin, and good acid balance. 100% Pommard, 50% new oak
