The Vineyard The vineyard site is a striking south slope high above the Yakima Valley floor from 1300 to 1450 feet elevation. The elevation and proximity to the Cascade foothills 30 miles west moderates summer heat and extends the growing season. Planted in 2005, the TC99 clone Syrah vines are mature and deep-rooted. This Syrah ripens later and is inky and intense. Soils consist of a two-foot layer of loess over fractured basalt. The Wine On the nose: Deep black cherry/cassis, toast and spice, loam, wet stone, violet. On the palate: Lush crushed cherry, rich mid-palate, complex baking spice on the finish. Pair with grilled hangar steak and brussels sprouts or ribs (any kind!)
