The Vineyard
The vineyard site is a steep north facing slope of the Snipes Mountain ridgetop. Planted in 1998, the soils are shallow loamy Missoula flood deposits above well-drained gravelly subsoil. The north facing aspect protects the vines from the prevailing southwesterly winds and the elevation 300 feet above the surrounding Yakima Valley protects from frost in the spring and fall as well as the threat of winter damage. The vineyard is a field blend of Dijon clones 76 and 96.
The Wine
On the nose: Grilled pineapple, Meyer lemon, creamy and toasty, fresh baked bread, complex and integrated. On the palate: complex, baked peaches and cream, soft with balancing acidity, lingering creamy toasty finish. This wine pairs well with fresh baked halibut, cedar plank salmon and baklava.
