2022 VA Governor’s Cup Silver. First vintage. The skin contact and barrel aging influences a broad mouthfeel with soft and structured tannins. Notes of apricot, cooked apple and dried citrus lead to subtle aromas of savory herbs and baking spices. Dry. Fermented like a red wine, this skin contact Chardonnay displays tannins and texture often associated with red wines. Ancient wine making method originated in Georgia 6,000-8,000 years ago. Aged in neutral French barrels for 18 months. 100% estate grown. 12.1% alc.

Notes

This Chardonnay is harvested later than most used for white wine, allowing the fruit to gain additional sugar, lower acid and ripen phenolic.
Fermented whole cluster, 3 weeks on the skins and stems.
