A rare grape in the United States, but a staple grape in the Italian Alps. This is the first commercial release of Teroldego in the state of Maryland. Known for its dark color, bright fruit, and lower tannin, Teroldego is a versatile grape that produces wines which can be easily paired with food or drank on their own. Grown at Six Wicket Vineyard in Myersville, MD by Ed and Kathy O’Laughlin, this wine has inviting notes of pomegranate, blackberry, baking spice and espresso on the nose. On the palate, juicy acidity and texture with notes of black cherry, cedar, and tobacco. Aged in a combination of new French and American oak for 9 months to preserve primary fruit characteristics and freshness, then bottle aged for an additional 9 months before release.
