RED CURRANT MEAD
RED is an English and Welsh semi-sweet melomel seasoned with red currants, a flavor that hearkens back to medieval years, the time of the druids. Red currants are scarce, so RED will be available for a limited time. In keeping with olde centuries Welsh tradition, it’s named for it’s color.
Pairs with fish, rabbit and other wylde game, pheasant, duck, and other poultry, lamb, pork, cheese, and good company.
Mead is honey wine, the most ancient of drynks, common to all cultures of the Olde World. Such culture stretched from India in the East to the British Isles in the West. Today, it is our inheritance from the Ancient Greeks and Romans, the stuff driving legends: Viking battles, Beowulf’s Quest, Briseis’ Romance, and Royal Courts; the very Nectar of the gods.
MeadMaster Pete Wylde’s craftsmanship is like the ancients, unfiltered, using real fruit. Bees make honey the same since the dawn of time. What you hold in your hands is your connection to our ancient forebears.
The tradition of giving a nuptial couple a lunar-month’s supply to ensure a “fruitful” union came to be known as the “Honeymoon”.
