One of our most beloved wines returns with a couple of new twists. It is still a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, but this time from 4 different vineyards in 3 different counties, and we’ve upped the production from 2 to 3 barrels. We still utilized the field blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah from the tiny Sass-A-Peak Vineyard in the Paso Robles AVA that was handpicked by yours truly, my family and a few amazing friends, but the yield in 2021 was once again so small, that I decided to blend more of our “heavy hitters” – the 2021 Cabernet Franc from Martian Ranch Vineyard in Santa Barbara County and the 2021 Syrah from the Michaud Vineyard, as well as a tiny bit of our Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon (not released yet) from the Brecon Estate Vineyard. The final blend is very similar to last year - 60% Cabernet Franc, 27% Syrah, and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon. A stunning velvet magenta color leads to aromas of warm cherry pie, black peppercorns and fresh forest floor; followed in the mouth by blueberries warmed in the sun, Bing cherries, Worcestershire sauce, winter spices, leather, and French Vanilla; finishing with warm velvety tannins and an earthy twang on the lingering finish. Pairs well with Osso Bucco, venison, eggplant parmesan, mushroom stroganoff, or just a glass by the fire (maybe with some dark chocolate). Because giving back is a huge part of our business, this newest vintage will donate $15 per bottle to our favorite local charities - stay tuned for the announcement of the first one very shortly! Due to the charitable nature of this special wine, there are no discounts off the bottle price as we want to donate as much as possible to each of the charities we will be working with throughout the year. We hope you understand this and will help us in our charitable quest.
